Iván Martirena and his trio combine fresh and exciting rhythmic ideas with soulful melodies and improvised sections that bloom into exciting and original compositions. There is a fine balance in incorporating new ideas into songs people can relate to without losing the audience. It’s safe to say that this band sits on the fence between the folk traditional sound plus all the elements of jazz and improvised music. This creates a really exciting live show because of it is a different and more energetic experience.

The band has enjoyed success over the last two years at such Chicago area clubs as, Vida Lounge, Ice Factory, Hungry Brain, The Elbo Room, Spot6, Café Luna, Weed’s, Griffin’s Public House, Gallery Cabaret and various clubs in throughout Boston and New York.
